A new year means a new batch of horrors to look forward to, so let’s get right into it…
Johannes Roberts (47 METRES DOWN, THE STRANGERS: PREY AT NIGHT) brings us a new addition to the Killer Chimp subgenre with PRIMATE (Grimmfest preview 23rd January), Daisy Ridley searches for her husband amid a zombie outbreak in WE BURY THE DEAD, take a trip back to a town full of fog and much worse in RETURN TO SILENT HILL and see how fear becomes the new faith with Ralph Fiennes and Jack O’Connell in 28 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE –
Sam Raimi (EVIL DEAD, DRAG ME TO HELL) returns to the horror genre with SEND HELP starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien, Corin Hardy (THE NUN) puts teens through hell in WHISTLE and Maggie Gyllenhaal delivers a new take on a classic master with THE BRIDE!, which stars Christian Bale as Frankenstein’s Monster and Jessie Buckley as the eponymous bride.
Georgina Campbell (BARBARIAN) is in for a good (bad?) year as she has not one, but two films lined up. COLD STORAGE sees her and Joe Keery (STRANGER THINGS) coping with a parasitic fungus and she’s chasing her husband’s murderer in Satanic slasher PSYCHO KILLER.
Horror franchises roaring back in 2026 include Kevin Williamson’s SCREAM 7, Kathryn Newton joins up with Samara Weaving in READY OR NOT: HERE I COME, Renny Harlin completes his trilogy with THE STRANGERS: CHAPTER 3, the director of INFESTED (the BEST spider horror of recent years!) wants to deliver “a film that hurts” in EVIL DEAD BURN and Lin Shaye returns in INSIDIOUS: THE BLEEDING WORLD.
Lee Cronin follows up EVIL DEAD RISE with a new take on THE MUMMY, David Robert Mitchell (IT FOLLOWS) is keeping cards close to his chest with mysterious thriller FLOWERVALE STREET, Julia Ducournau (RAW, TITANE) is back with ALPHA, Zach Cregger follows up WEAPONS with RESIDENT EVIL and Damian McCarthy (CAVEAT, ODDITY) puts Adam Scott through some HOKUM.

New shark films include DEEP WATER and SHIVER, a hopeless romantic gets more than he bargained for in OBSESSION, Charlize Theron fights for her life against Taron Egerton in APEX and an 8-year-old comes across a sinister entity in Rob Savage’s OTHER MOMMY.
M Night returns with supernatural romance thriller REMAIN starring Jake Gyllenhaal, David Harbour’s Santa is back in VIOLENT NIGHT 2 and Robert Eggers follows up NOSFERATU by taking us to the 13th century in WERWULF.
Esther is back in ORPHANS, Osgood Perkins (LONGLEGS, THE MONKEY, KEEPER) continues his prolific streak with THE YOUNG PEOPLE, Samara Weaving and Jason Segel play a couple with secret plans to murder each other in OVER YOUR DEAD BODY and YouTube horror THE BACKROOMS hits the big screen.
