Struggling with a crippling creative block, prescription drug addiction, and mounting pressure from his record label to follow up on a runaway hit, 27-year-old British musician Sam Gallo retreats to an isolated Italian villa where he spent his childhood summers. Accompanied only by his dog Elvis, Sam discovers an ancient pianoforte and a forgotten 1930s leather-bound diary belonging to a woman who suffered a tragic fate in the house. As he plays her music and gets drawn into her dark, possessive supernatural presence, his artistic obsession spirals into madness and a haunting nightmare.
