Tenants at Paradiso Palms apartments fight a deadly spider invasion while the cunning building manager might be their only hope for survival.

Grimmfest says: An old-school creepy-crawly creature feature, that doesn’t take itself entirely seriously, this is a masterclass in tightly controlled, furiously paced, unrelentingly gripping white-knuckle thrill-ride filmmaking, which ultimately proves far darker and more gleefully mean spirited than one might initially expect. The direction is sharp and stylish, making excellent use of the enclosed location, and the script is sharp and witty, finding time for some deft bits of character detail and slyly satiric social commentary in and among the set piece spider action. The much-put-upon female building manager protagonist and her cynical, drunken English dominatrix friend offer two very different studies in exploitative transactional relationships with sleazy men, while their situation in trying to escape the rampaging arachnids is made far worse due to the scumbag landlord’s long-term neglect of vital repair work. There might even be a sneaky reference to the recent Pandemic lock-down in the speed and ruthlessness with which the authorities shut off the building, long before anybody inside really knows what is going on. Thrills, chills, and a smart set of subtexts. What more could you wish for?

Signature Entertainment will release Crawlers only in UK cinemas from October 30th.
