A group of young activists breaks into a slaughterhouse, aiming to expose the owners for processing meat unfit for consumption. Armed with cameras, they capture damning evidence only to be caught by the owner and his security team. A desperate struggle over the filmed footage quickly escalates into a deadly game.

Grimmfest Says: Meat-eaters, vegetarians, and vegans alike are going to find this an uncomfortable watch. A morally slippery sociopolitical spin on the seminal and much-loved MOST DANGEROUS GAME scenario, with perhaps a twist of STRAW DOGS in its rural setting and uncompromising brutality, this starts out as a harrowing and head-on confrontation with the callous, mechanised cruelties of the meat industry, only to move into more morally grey areas, as the activists themselves prove rather less righteous than at first appears. Beautifully shot, with a real feel for location and context, and boasting a fine cast, headed by the brilliant French character actor Olivier Gourmet, this is a tense, gripping, and utterly brutal film, that pulls no punches in itse various horrors. But it’s nevertheless a film in which everyone has their reasons, whether they are sympathetic or not; that contextualises the conflict between the two sides in terms of class and cultural values, and is surprisingly nuanced and unexpectedly sympathetic in its depiction of both, with some fascinating political subtexts that will leave viewers with plenty of meat for discussion.
